Dan De Federicis Response to Jack Flash and other readers on the issue of Moving Saratoga Forward
I thank Jack Flash for his submission on the issue of Saratoga Report’s occasional inclusion of Moving Saratoga Forward’s links. It was very well written, and I agreed with a lot of it it or at least felt much of it gave me food for thought. I did, however, disagree with a fair amount of it and was prepared to dig my heels in.
Then, just a few hours after receiving Jack Flash’s piece on my computer, something awful happened.
You no doubt heard about the horrible hate-crime killings in my hometown of Buffalo yesterday. At least 10 people were killed by a deranged young man with a gun and body armor. This occurred at a Tops Market, a supermarket chain my family has been going to since I remember and now is owned by locally-based Price Chopper. This is horrible whether it occured in Billings, Montana or Buffalo, but I think the hometown connection shook me up even more.
Then my friend Bill, who is amongst the most intelligent people I know, texted me about it. The last words of his text were: “hate media radicalizes young men.” Wow, that was a 1-2 punch.
So for now, I am reassessing my prior decision to include Moving Saratoga Forward’s links on Saratoga Report. Until I come up with a final decision, I won’t link anything from MSF. I thank Jack Flash and others who contacted me personally or wrote on social media – on both sides of this issue. Like I said it was something I grappled with, and I am still grappling with it. Please pray for the Buffalo victims. Thank you.
