Saratoga’s Home Made Theater begins its 38th season with the multiple Tony Award winning musical comedy Nine, with evening performances October 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th and matinee performances October 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th. All performances will be at the Dee Sarno Theater inside Saratoga Arts, 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, New York.

Nine won seven Tony Awards in its two Broadway productions, including Best Musical of 1982. Based on Federico Fellini’s semi-autobiographical film 8 ½, Nine has been produced worldwide in dozens of cities spanning five continents over the last five decades, and is celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the original Broadway production this year. Its two runs on Broadway and a successful run in London have entertained hundreds of thousands. In addition to live productions, Nine has inspired a movie adaptation and a Grammy nominated soundtrack album.

Nine is a musical comedy about love, work, career, aging and reflection. Productions of musicals like Nine provide wonderful opportunities for community theater groups to engage a large number of local actors, musicians and volunteers. Home Made Theater’s Saratoga production includes an ensemble of sixteen performers, directed by Michael McDermott with musical direction by Richard Cherry and choreography by Heather D’Arcy. This is a rare opportunity to see a live production of an award-winning musical in a setting as intimate as the Dee Sarno Theater in Saratoga Arts.

Home Made Theater General Manager, Eric Rudy said “Nine addresses topics, feelings and reflections, including gender roles and relationships, that seem increasingly relevant a full 60 years after Fellini’s 8 ½, upon which it is based. We are proud to put forth a musical production that is worthy of our loyal audiences.”

Business Manager Erin Nicole Harrington further notes “We continue our tradition and mission of supporting the arts in the Saratoga region by putting forth quality live productions at

affordable prices. Nine is an award-winning production in a small local venue that makes a

wonderful night out in the heart of Saratoga.”
