SARATOGA REPORT

Jerry Seinfeld comfortable at Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Jerry Seinfeld performed for a sophisticated crowd at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center Thursday evening. Seinfeld surprised the crowd by saying it was his first time in Saratoga Springs. His praise for the town and the many things it offers seemed genuine.
After a brief and entertaining warm-up from the talented and likable Ryan Hamilton, the crowd was prepped for Seinfeld‘s immediate entrance. As is his way Seinfeld drifted from topic to topic seamlessly. He touched upon numerous new technologies, panning the cell phone, artificial intelligence, the fitness craze, Ozempic and the vicissitudes of modern life.
The legendary comedian was properly annoyed at a rude heckler and deftly handled it like the uber- professional he is expressing his irritation with humor that won over the crowd. Laughter ensued freely as he touched many topics, including home life, marriage and vacation in a caustic but family, friendly manner.
The crowd particularly enjoyed his take on the absolute need for coffee each morning to face the stresses of the upcoming day and his disparagement of tea.  The show consisted of the things that he did not like, but it was all done with a soft touch. He looked and sounded like the Seinfeld of old and the crowd consisting mostly of couples, enjoyed his take on the keys to a long-lasting marriage.  The show was refreshingly free of controversy, politics, religion and profanity.  The veteran performer seemed so enamored of the crowd. He came back after the set to take a half dozen questions from the audience while again expressing how impressed he was with Saratoga Springs.
