Summer Sunday Strolls Are Selling Out Fast!

Saratoga Springs, NY: The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation looks forward to this Sunday’s sold-out Mail-Order Houses of Saratoga” Summer Stroll on Sunday, July 11th at 10:30AM. Madison C. Squires will lead this brand new tour of houses on East and Pinewood avenues, which highlights the “Kit House” era – a time when the average person could not only put a check through the mail, but order and receive an entire house as well. The tour, sponsored by Brand 21, meets at the northwest corner of Lake and East avenues.

The Foundation appreciates the generous support of 2021 Series Sponsor Putnam Market as well as Summer Series Sponsors Bonacio Construction, Druthers Brewing Company, and Stewart’s Shops.  All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours will be limited to thirty and tickets must be purchased in advance.  The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members.

Summer Sunday Strolls have sold-out the last four weeks, so purchase your tickets to the remaining strolls before it is too late! Next Sunday, July 18th, Executive Director Samantha Bosshart will lead “The Good Life: North Broadway” which features the grand Queen Annes along this famed corridor. These homes were built by Saratoga’s most prominent figures such as Lucy Skidmore Scribner, Fred Cluett, William B. Gage, and Senator Brackett. Remaining strolls highlight the mineral springs of downtown, the Saratoga Spa State Park, the area of the former Skidmore College campus, among others.

In addition to the Summer Sunday Strolls, the Foundation will be offering bike tours of the Saratoga Spa State Park on Sunday, September 26 and Saturday, October 9.  Bike tours last approximately three hours and space is limited to twenty.
