Watch for Lane Closures on Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists to watch for the around the clock closure of one of two lanes in each direction on Union Avenue (State Route 9P) in the City of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, between East Avenue and Henning Road as work resumes along Saratoga Race Course on a previously announced complete streets project starting Monday morning, Sept. 11.
Later this fall, a detour will be established around this stretch of Union Avenue to allow for milling and repaving, utilizing Henning Road to State Route 29 and East Avenue. Dates of the detour will be announced in the coming weeks.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
Motorists are reminded to Move Over a lane, if safely possible, or slow down significantly whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.
